Answer:
Sublimation is a process in which a substance is directly changed from solid to gaseous phase without passing through the liquid phase. Sublimation is an endothermic process and takes place by the absorption of heat. Because it is an endothermic process therefore, the molecules absorb enough heat energy to overcome the intermolecular forces and change themselves into the vapor phase. Sublimation is a physical change process and is not used for chemical reactions.
For example, naphthalene is a non-polar organic compound and its molecules are bound together by van der walls forces and it sublimes at room temperature. At room temperature, it has a high vapor pressure and therefore it evaporates into a gas.
