Does the sun is major source of heat and light on earth plays an essential part in food chain

Yes because plants are the primary factor in the food chain and plants prepare food in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll.if sun doesn't exist it will harm the whole food chain because the animals consume these plants and the carnivorous animals eat those herbivorous animals thus the food chain goes on.and we don't have any other energy sources other than sun so the sun is the major energy source.
