In scalar addition we have to do only the sum of magnitude as we know that the scalar quantities don't have direction... since it is the scalar quantity the direction will be same for all the magnitudes.

You are mistaken. We add vectors by using laws of vector algebra : for example in R^3 = R×R×R, we define (a,b,c)+(a',b',c')=(a+a',b+b',c+c').
