Transpiration is the process of release of excess amount of water in the form of water vapour through  the stomata.

It is helpful to the plants in the following ways.

i) The evaporation of water from leaves generates a suction pull which can pull water from

the roots to great heights in plants and trees.

ii) It also cools the plant.
