Answer:Given : A banner composed of a square and two equal right triangles, one on either side of the square.

To Find : total area of the finished product

Solution:

Area of Square = 8 * 8 = 64 sq feet

Base of two right angle triangle = 20 - 8 = 12 ft

Base of one right angle triangle = 12/2 = 6 ft

Area of one triangle = (1/2)*base * height

Area of two triangles = 2 * (1/2)*base * height

= base * height

= 6 * 8

= 48 sq feet

Total area of finished product = 64 + 48 = 112 sq feet

or we can use formula for area of trapezium

Area = (1/2)(20 + 8) * 8

= 28 * 4

= 112 sq feet
