because humans domesticated animals, they were able to progress, specifically the domestication of horses and camels made transportation more efficient, domestication of oxen and cattle made food production more efficient, etc. However, there are negative consequences, for example, domestication lead to increased diseases. According to the recorded history of mankind, Wheat crops are cultivated since 9000 BC. Probably this might be the earliest plant that was domesticated by humans.  As far as we known dog is the first animal to be domesticated by humans.
