i will explain you the meaning of dominion states in a very easy way.

◆dominion states are basically those states(nations or countries) which are externally under the control of any super power(here super power implies a powerful country such as Britain) , but internally the dominion states frame its policies and government on its own.
◆the super power just controls it externally but internal functioning is done by the dominion state itself.
◆as for example, before india got independence the people were demanding dominion status meaning externally control by Britain.
