Hi friend,
Here is your answer,
What is written in the book is right, the noble gases do not have valence so we say that it has zero valency but it is wrong to say that it has zero valency.
The valency is the combining capacity of the atom.
The noble gases don't combine with any atom.
NOBLE GASES DON'T COMBINE WITH ANY OTHER ATOM AND IT IS WRONG TO SAY THAT THE VALENCY OF NOBLE GASES IS ZERO.
HOPE THIS HELPS YOU!!
