 \huge \mathcal \colorbox{lightblue}{{Solution:}}

Let the number of boys be 7x and that of girls be 5x.

According to the given condition, we have

Number of boys = Number of girls +8

⇒7x=5x+8

⇒7x−5x=8 ....[Transposing 5x to LHS]

⇒2x=8

⇒x= \frac{8}{2} = 4

Therefore, number of boys =7×4=28 and number of girls =5×4=20

So, total number of children in the class =28+20=48.

Hence, the class strength is 48.

Explanation:

Given

  • The number of boys and girls in a class in ratio 7:5
  • The Number of boys is 8.
  • more than the number of girls.

Find

  • total number of student.

explanation

Let us,

  • Number of boy=X
  • Number of Girl=Y

Hence

⟹X:Y=7:5

⟹X/Y=7/5

⟹5X-7Y=0___________(1)

Again,

⟹X=8+Y

⟹X-Y=8_____________(2)

Multiply by 5in equ (2)

⟹5X-5Y=40_____________(3)

Subtract equ (1)&equ(3)

⟹-7Y+5Y=-40

⟹-2Y=40

⟹Y=32/3

⟹Y=20

in equ (1)

⟹5X-7×20=0

⟹5X=140

⟹X=140/5

⟹X=20

Hence

  • Total Number of Studants in Class ,
  • (28+20)=48
