Answer:

Q2. The first disadvantage is that, if one component in a series circuit fails, then all the components in the circuit fail because the circuit has been broken. The second disadvantage is that the more components there are in a series circuit, the greater the circuit's resistance*.

Q3. The amount of generated heat in a conductor carrying current is proportional to the square of the current flow through the circuit when the electrical resistance and current supply is constant.

Q5. An incandescent bulb works on the principle of incandescence, a general term meaning light produced by heat. In an incandescent type of bulb, an electric current is passed through a thin metal filament, heating the filament until it glows and produces light.

Tungsten is used for making filament of an electric bulb due to the following reasons: Being an alloy it has a very high melting point. It has very high resistivity so it does not burn easily at room temperature. The lamp glows at high temperatures.

Q1 )

sereis :-

In a sereis circuit all the resistors are arranged in a sequential manner so that current can flow in only one path.

As more resistors are added in sereis the equivalent resistance increases .

paralell :-

In parallel circuits resistors are connected to same nodes from both ends .

As more resistors are added in parallel the equivalent resistance decreases .

Q2 )

Disadvantages of sereis :

Damage or disruption at one point of the circuit will effect the whole circuit.

As the number of components increases resistance increases.

Q3 )

Joules law of heating :

Joule's law of heating states that heat produced in joules when a current of I amperes flows in a wire of resistance R ohms for time t seconds is given by

H = I^2Rt.

Q4 )

Electric devices that work on joules law of heating :

  • Electric fuse
  • Electric arc
  • Electric welding
  • Electric bulb
  • Electric heater

Q5 )

Fuse :

Fuse is a condictor which is an electric saftey device used to prevent the excess flow of current .

It is connected to live wire .

It is made up of a material with high resistivity and low melting point .
