A dam is a wall that is built across a river in order to stop the water flowing and to make a lake.

ground water is the water beneath the surface of the ground, consisting largely of surface water that has seeped down: the source of water in springs and wells.

hydroelectric is pertaining to the generation and distribution of electricity derived from the energy of falling water or any other hydraulic source.

soil is the portion of the earth's surface consisting of disintegrated rock and humus.

Water scarcity is the lack of sufficient available water resources to meet the demands of water usage within a region.
