In a compound like Water(H2O)
The ratio of the mass of hydrogen to the mass of oxygen is always in the ratio of 1:8
because the atomic mass of hydrgen and oxygen is 1u and 16u resp.
In H2o= H=1u×2 O= 16u
so H2O=2u:16u
=1:8
So, in 9g of water 1g of hydrogen and 8g of oxygen.
