*Chloride : 17
*atomic configuration : 2,8,7
*Sodium : 11
*atomic configuration :2,8,1
*Chloride is having 7 electrons in its outermost shell
*Sodium is having 1 electron in its outermost shell , so for keeping it stable we should donate 1 electron from outermost shell of sodium to chloride for stabling both the compounds. So when we transfer 1 electron to chloride from sodium both the compounds will be equal, there will be changes in atomic configuration, and sign.
*Atomic configuration : sodium: 2,8 , chloride : 2,8,8.
*Sign : Na+ , Cl-
