Double fertilization in Angiosperms comprises of the following events:-
- Syngamy - The process in which one of the male gametes fuses with the female gamete i.e. the egg cell to form a zygote (2n) is termed syngamy. This zygote further undergoes divisions to form the seed of the plant.
- Triple fusion - It is when another male gamete fuses with the secondary nucleus to give rise to the endosperm (3n). It provides nutrition to the growing embryo.
