Double
(iii) A circus tent is cylindrical upto a height of 3.3 m and conical above it. If the
diameter of the base is 100 m and slant height of the conical part is 56.4 m, find
the total canvas used in making the tent. If the cost of canvas is RS 8 per m², find the
total cost of canvas required in making the tent.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

So first of all the surface area of the circus tent must be found.

The tent consists of two parts; the conical part and the cylindrical part.

If the total area of the cylindrical part is considered, it would be given by the equation

A=2π×r×h

The radius would be 50m since it would be the half of the diameter

So the total surface area would be 2×π×50m×3·3m (since 3.3 is the height of the cylindrical part of the tent)  = 1036.7m²

Then the surface area of the cone is given by;

A=πrl where l is the slant height

The slant height is 56.4

And the radius is same for the cone.

So, by substituting these values for the equation;

A=π×50m×56.4

So the surface area of the cone would be 8860m²

Then total surface area would be 9896m²

So the total cost would be 9896×8=Rs.79168
