Shrewd, ambitious and a skilled military strategist, Napolean successfully waged war against various coalitions of European nations and expanded his empire. However, after a disastrous French invasion of Russia in 1812,Napoleon  abdicated the throne two years later and was exiled to the island of Elba.

Here is your answer,

The same thing that allowed to become the mightiest in Europe ;his extreme ambitions, his ego and his lust of power.

Napoleon always wanted to rise higher. His ambitions and his lust for power have driven him to rise higher and higher. From artillery officers to French Empire.

But he basically wanted to rule Europe and he made enemies out of everyone. He was capable of controlling the subjugated states only because of the force.

Every state was rising against him constantly. He was capable of detecting them but that was not permanent solution. If Napoleon offered the states something like the EU with the large France influence then that would be perhaps acceptable. But he wanted France to dominant the entire Europe.

No single force can hold the entire Europe by force permanently. It was only matter of time before sometime defeated Napoleon.

I hope this will help you ☺☺☺
