2. If the groom is poor it helps them financially
3. Sometimes it supports inter caste marriage.

1. It gives great burden to the bride's family
2. Some families because of their social status can't arrange an appropriate groom for their daughters or women
3. They won't even allow the girl to marry the guys she likes because of their financial status since they can't afford to give more money or property to the groom
4. It also leads to some or the other immoral practices directly or indirectly.
5. It lowers the status of women.

Conclusion:
