The demand of dowry by the in-laws at the time of marriage is a huge social crime. It not only adds financial burden on the family but also give rise to social evil such as greed, lust for more and fraud etc. This trend has caused thousands of deaths of baby girls by their own parents because of their unstable economic condition. It creates enough pressure on parents that they would rather spend money on their daughter’s dowry than to educate her which has led to thousands of uneducated women in our nation. It has been declared as a social crime by the government and yet people are still practicing it. Being educated person we should make efforts to eradicate this social evil from our environment.
