Helen's association with Dr. Bell started when she was just six years old. Her parents went to him to take his expert advice on how to teach her. Dr. Bell advised them to contact the Perkins Institute for the Blind. Dr. Bell became a friend oh Helen. His tenderness and sympathetic attitude won Helen's heart. He was the door that opened the wolrd for her.
Dr. Bell was deeply developed to the education of the hearning impaired. He founded the Volta Bureau for the Deaf. He was a teacher of the deaf and his passion and his professional expertise made him develop on the nature of sound that enabled him to invent the telephone. Dr. Bell was of tender heart, very poetic and humorous. He was a lively man. He reamained a good friend of Helen throughout his life.
