Indirect/Reported Speech refers to speech being said to a third person/reporting what happened to a third person.

Example: She said,"I am organizing a party." (Direct)

               She said that she was organizing a party. (Indirect)

In the above example, when writing in indirect/reported form, the sentence changes according to its tense form. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'can' changes to 'could', 'this' changes to 'that', 'will' changes to 'would', 'yesterday' changes to 'the previous day' and many other words will have to be made.

Dr Kalam said,"I will see my countrymen prosper." (Direct)

Dr Kalam said that he would see his country prosper. (Indirect)
