"Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy" started an Orphanage “Avvai Illam”, in Coimbatore.
Dr Reddy was a remarkable medical professional and a social reformer and the first female legislator in the British India which is a part in her list of achievements.
She was also the founder of the "Adyar Cancer Institute". Dr Reddy was also awarded Padma Bhushan for her services.
She was the first woman doctor in India.
