The cyclone had destructed both life and property. I wanted to make an appeal to the people to help the victims by contributing something to them.

Subject: Help for Kerala Fani victims

Sir:

I am writing this letter to appeal to the people of our country to come forward in helping the cyclone stricken in Odisha and adjoining states. The cyclone struck Odisha on May 2, 2019 and caused huge devastation, though the meteorological department had predicted it well in advance and proper safety arrangements had been taken. Wind at the speed of 250 km/h blew across the coastal areas causing unprecedented damage and destruction.  Approximately 72 people were killed; hundreds of homes have been affected and damaged. More than 1.2 million people had to take shelter in relief camps. Normal life has come to a standstill. It will take many months of hard-work to bring life to normalcy in Odisha.  

The entire nation has come forward to lend a helping hand to the cyclone victims. Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, Multi-National Corporations, Big Business Houses, Celebrities, Sportsmen and women, schools, colleges, and common people have been contributing to Odisha’s Chief Minister’s Relief Fund generously. Even the help from foreign countries is pouring in. It will take many months of hard-work to bring life to normalcy in Odisha. Through the medium of your esteemed newspaper I appeal to the people to contribute liberally. Kindly give my views enough space in your esteemed daily. Thanking you.
