Every morning, Indra waited eagerly for the morning news on the radio. The news gave out more information about the Indian freedom struggle and the repressive countermoves of the British Raj. Indra's heart sank a little every day. He finally decided to join the movement but did not know what was ahead of him. One night Indra and his friend were hiding in a shed. His friend slept while Indra kept guard. Far away he could see tiny flashes of light moving forward. Indra immediately knew it was the police. He immediately woke his friend up and they quickly started moving towards their destination. It was the house of another revolutionary. They knew they had to reach there before the break of dawn in order to survive. It was six in the morning when they finally reached the house. As they were about to leave for their mission, the police surrounded the house. The revolutionary whose house they were in opened a small window by the staircase to check the strength of the police force. No sooner had the window been opened than the police began firing. Before Indra could close the window, a bullet hit the revolutionary in his chest. Indra held him in his hands unable to move an inch. Two bullets hit the revolutionary's wife in her stomach, and one hit his son beside one of his eyes. While the others tried to save themselves and combat against the force, Indra took a trolley van, placed the three injured people in it and moved out through the back of the house where the policemen were less in number. Taking a bullet in his leg, he ran for three miles pushing the trolley until he reached the hospital. Two lives were saved, but Indra could never forget the moment when he held the revolutionary dead in his arms.
