At that time there was a group of rishis who had a very low temper.they got angry very easily. Duryodhana knew that if the Pandavas are unable to feed the Rishis, they will curse him to death and hence when the Pandavas were in exile, he sent the rishis to the pandavas' ashram in the forest.
When the rishis reached the Pandavas home Yudhishthir and other Pandavas got afraid and in order to get some time for finding a solution, they asked the rishis to have a bath in the river. Meanwhile, they called out to Krishna ji. And Krishna came there and heard the whole story. Krishna Ji asked draupadi of there is any food in the cottage. The Pandavas had only one grain of rice. So draupadi offered it to lord Krishna. Krishna Ji ate it and said that now his stomach is full and also the rishis' stomachs were also full.
Hence,in this way Krishna saved the pandavas from getting cursed.
