(a) To draw a perpendicular bisector of PQ follow the below steps:

⇒ Draw a line of length 6.2cm and name the segment as PQ.

⇒ Now take a compass and measure any length greater than half the length of the segment.

⇒ Now, place the compass on any point P or Q and draw one arc above the segment and one below the segment.

⇒ Now measuring the same length in the compass, mark same arc intersecting the arc from other end of the segment.

⇒ Draw AB meeting PQ at R.

(b) Steps to follow

Draw a line segment with scale 8.5cm.

Mark end points as P and Q

From point P draw arcs below and above the line PQ.

From point Q draw arcs below and above the line PQ with same distance.

Draw a line perpendicular to line PQ where the arcs cut.

Mark a point X where the arcs cut each other.
