The nightingale is a shy and timid bird. She is also innocent, as she so easily believes in the cunning frog's words when he said that he could help her become a good singer. She is also extremely trusting, hence failing to see the jealous motive of the frog to destroy her mentally and physically. In the end, it's her innocence & a weak character along with her lack of self-confidence that leads to her death.
