- He was simple and innocent. This can be seen from the fact that the peasant was easily tricked by the thugs and his sons and they managed to con and take his ox for a petty amount.
- He was wise as he was able to teach the thug and his sons a good lesson. He took his revenge cleverly and made the thugs promise to give up thuggery forever.
