Answer:
Through its four chambers, a healthy heart moves blood in a predictable manner. The left and right atria and left and right ventricles, which are located on either side of the heart, make up the four chambers.
There are valves, which are constructed of flimsy yet sturdy tissue flaps, in between the chambers. They are known as cusps or leaflets. To assist blood in moving along its course, valves open and close:
- Body's oxygen-depleted blood rushes into the right atrium.
- The right ventricle is then reached after passing through the tricuspid valve.
- Blood is pumped from the right ventricle through the pulmonary valve and into lungs, where it absorbs oxygen.
- The blood subsequently travels to the left atrium where it is oxygenated.
- The mitral valve allows the heart to flow blood into the left ventricle.
- The aortic valve allows blood from the left ventricle to go to the rest of the body.
This is how the path of blood from the right ventricle to the left ventricle.
