Draw a circle of given radius on 1 mm graph paper and then on 2mm graph paper. Estimate the area enclosed in each case by actually counting the squares. Now try out with circles of different radius estimate the pattern between the two observed values and the theoretical values.

The materials needed are 2 mm graph paper and 1 mm graph paper and compasses.
Draw a circle of radius 1 cm and 1.5 cm on a 1 mm graph paper and similarly on 2mm graph paper . Find the area of the circles by counting the number of squares enclosed in the following manner:
➢ Count the number of complete square ➢ Count number of square more than half as full square ➢ Count the half square as half ➢ Neglect the squares that are less than half
