Given : a circle of radius 1.6 cm.

A point P at the distance of 3 cm from the center of the circle.

To Find  : from the point p, draw two tangent to the circle

Solution:

Step 1 : Take a point O

Step 2 : Taking compass width = 1.6 cm and taking O as center Draw a circle

Step 3 : Draw a ray OX

Step 4 : Taking Compass width =  3 cm and taking O as center cut OX at P

Step 5 :  Using Suitable compass width and taking O as center draw arcs on both sides

Step 6 : Keeping compass width same  and taking P  as  center draw arcs on both sides such that it intersects arcs drawn in previous step at M & N

Step 7 : Join MN , intersecting OP at   C

Step 8 : Taking compass width = OC = CP  , and taking O as center cut circle at A & B

Step 9 :  Join PA & PB

PA & PB are required Tangent
