Draw a circle of radius 6cm .from a point 10 cm away from its center ,construct the pair of tangents to the circle and measure their lengths .

Hey !!

Step of construction :-

- Draw a circle of radius 6 cm from centre O.
- Draw a line of 10 cm away from centre O to other point P.
- Now, bisect the line PO with the help of compass.
- Draw another circle radius OM. Where this circle touches the first circle draw tangents.
PA and PB.
- Measuring the lengths of tangents PA and PB we get their measure as 8 cm.

The question has some options too, below are the missing options:

a) √7 cm

b) 2√34 cm

c) 16 cm

d)8 cm

The correct answer is Option D: 8cm

In ΔOPQ, ∠Q = 90°

∴ OP² = OQ² + PQ²

10² = 6² + PQ²

PQ² = 100 - 36

= 64

PQ = 8 cm
