Draw a circle with centre O and radius 4.5 cm. Draw a chord AB of length 5.4cm . Indicate by marking points X and Y , the minor arc AXB and the major arc AYB of the circle. Shade the major segment of the circle.

To find :  Draw Circle , chord & Shade major segment

Solution:

Step 1 : Take a Point O

Step 2 : Take compass width = 4.5 cm & taking O as center Draw a Circle

Step 3 : Mark A point on boundry of circle  

Step 4 : Tale compass width = 5.4 cm  & A as center draw an arc intersecting circle at B

Step 5 : join AB

Step 6 : Mark point X between A  & B such that Center of circle is out side

AXB is minor arc

Step 7 : Mark point Y between A  & B such that Center of circle is inside

AYB is major arc

Shade the AYB
