Draw a circuit diagram of an electric circuit containing a cell, an ammeter, resistor of 4 ohm in series with a combination of two resistors 8 ohm each in parallel and voltmeter across parallel combination. each of them dissipate maximum energy and can with stand a maximum power of 16W without melting. find the maximum current that can flow through the three resistors?

For the parallal resistance
1/effective resistance = 1/8+1/8
.•. effective resistance = 4
Total resistance thats the series.... = 4+4=8 ohm.
Assuming that each resistor has 16W power.
R=V^2/P
8=v^2/32
Therefore v=16
V=IR
16= I×8
I=2A
Or in one step it can be done that is after taking out the total resistance we can use the formula P=I^2×R
Thus we get 32=I^2×8
Therefore I=2A
