the circuit drawn for should be like- both the resistors should be connected in parallel series.

Explanation:

by the formula of parallel series i.e 1/Rp=1/R1+1/R2.

so it would be like Rp =3ohm. just put the values of resistors in the above formula. and you will get your answer
