Explanation:

the food enters through the buccal cavity(mouth)

here it is mixed with the saliva which contains salivary amylase which helps in the beaxking of carbohydrates. here 30%of our food is digested

then the food travels through the esophagus and reaches the stomach .

then there is secretion of mucus, hydrochloric acid and pepsinogen

then mucus form a protective layer on the ways of the stomach then HCl acts upon the food and converts pepsinogen to pepsin which then acts upon protien. here the food stays for approx. 4-5 hrs and then leaves for the small intestine where it comes in contact with many enzymes which break the foods into simpler substances and then the villi and micotubules(small finger like projections which are ment to increase the surface area ) absorb the simpler substances and then the food is sent to the large intestine where excess water is absorbed from it and then the unused food is thrown out in the form of faecal matter which is thrown out of the body through anus
