Let as explain with an ionic compound NaCl, Sodium chloride,
i. In the ionic bond, one atom losses its outermost valence electrons to attain stable state while another atom gains electron to fill its valence shell.
ii. While representing an ion, we have to mention square bracket and the charge on its top.
iii. The interactions between the two ions is due to coulombic interactions.
