MAGNIFICATION OF CONVEX LENS:

  • Convex lens form varied type of images based on the object distance from the lens.

  • Magnification of lens represents the ratio of image distance and object distance or the ratio of image height with object height.

  \boxed{\bf \: magnification =  \dfrac{v}{u}  =  \dfrac{ h_{i}}{ h_{o}}}

When object is before FOCUS:

  • Image is virtual.
  • Image is erect.
  • Image is magnified.

When object is inbetween F and C:

  • Image is real.
  • Image is formed beyond C.
  • Image is inverted.
  • Image is magnified.

When object is at C:

  • Image is real.
  • Image is formed at C.
  • Image is of same size as object.
  • Image is inverted.

When object is beyond C:

  • Image is real.
  • Image is inverted.
  • Image of formed between F and C.
  • Image is diminished.
