There are three zones in a candle flame. All these three zones have different colour and temperatures.

Outer zone

This is the first zone

This zone is blue in colour

This is the non-luminous part of the flame

In the outer zone, complete combustion of fuel takes place.

Middle zone

This is the second zone

This zone is blue in colour

This zone is moderately hot

In the middle zone, partial combustion of fuel takes place.

Inner zone

This is the third and the innermost zone

This zone is black due to the presence of unburnt wax vapours.
