Resource :

Anything that is required to fulfill human need is called resource.

Types of resources -

  1. On basis of origin
  2. On the basis of exhaustibility
  3. On the basis of ownership
  4. On the basis of development

1. Origin

  • Biotic - living things like human, plants.
  • Abiotic - non living things like soil, water.

2. Exhaustibility

  • Renewable - can be renewed such as solar, wind energy.
  • Non Renewable - can not be renewed such as fossils fuel like petroleum, coal which takes million of years to form.

3. Ownership

  • Individual - owned by private individual like plantation, water in well.
  • Community - accessible to all the members of the community like pond, baren land of village.
  • National - belonging to nation such as all minerals, forest within the political boundaries and oceanic area upto 12 nautical miles.
  • International - oceanic resources beyond 200 nautical miles.

4. Development -

  • Potential - found in area but can't be utilized like Rajasthan have enamours potential for development of solar and wind energy but till now it is not put.
  • Developed - present and there is proper utilization.
  • Stock - present but no enough technology to use.
  • Reserve - can be put with technology but kept for future use.
