When an object is kept on an inclined plane and slides when its downward component of force is equal to frictional force.

Consider, angle of the inclined plane as θ and coefficient of friction between the body and plane as \mu

If mass of the object is m, then the weight of the object is mg.

On inclined plane, consider components of the weight. Along the plane,

F_x = mg sin\theta

Perpendicular to it, F_y = mg cos\theta

The reaction force is N = mg cos\theta

Frictional force:

f=\mu N = \mu mg cos \theta
