To draw:

a labelled ray diagram for image formation by a concave mirror when a object is placed between:

  • C and F

  • Pole and F

Solution:

When Object is kept between C and F:

  • Image is formed beyond C.

  • Image is real.

  • Image is magnified.

  • Image is inverted.

When Object is kept between Pole and F:

  • Image is virtual and formed behind the mirror.

  • Image is erect.

  • Image is magnified.

\star Refer to the attached diagram.

  • Upper image is the 1st case and lower image is the 2nd case.

Rules to draw ray-diagram:

  • Rays passing through C will trace back its path after reflection.

  • Rays after passing through F will become parallel to Principle Axis after reflection.

  • Virtual image should be denoted by dashed line.
