To draw:
a labelled ray diagram for image formation by a concave mirror when a object is placed between:
- C and F
- Pole and F
Solution:
When Object is kept between C and F:
- Image is formed beyond C.
- Image is real.
- Image is magnified.
- Image is inverted.
When Object is kept between Pole and F:
- Image is virtual and formed behind the mirror.
- Image is erect.
- Image is magnified.
Refer to the attached diagram.
- Upper image is the 1st case and lower image is the 2nd case.
Rules to draw ray-diagram:
- Rays passing through C will trace back its path after reflection.
- Rays after passing through F will become parallel to Principle Axis after reflection.
- Virtual image should be denoted by dashed line.
