Draw a line AB = 8 cm.

Taking A as a centre and radius more than half of length AB, draw two arcs in upper and lower portion of AB.

Taking B as a centre and same radius, draw two arcs which cut the previous arcs at E and F.

Join EF which cut AB at C.

EF is the required perpendicular bisector of AB.
