ok I'll tell how to divide a line segment in 3/4 part.

Please Refer To the attachment for the figure.

1, Draw line AB of 12 cm.

2, Draw another line segment within acute angle with AB

3, Now take 3 Cm on Compass and mark 4 arcs on line segment.(below)

4.Join last arc with B

5. now join 3rd arc ( 2nd last one) parallel to the line made in 4rth step

6. Hence you get B' as the point which divides line in 3/4 part.

7. Measure AB' which should be 9 cm if you do like me.
