first we should draw a line segment of length 6.8cm and the mark one side as a an another as b then keep the compass point at a and length more than half the line segment AB then draw a arc up and down of the line segmemt

then put the compass point at b and draw a arc length more then half of the line segment the cut the arc. hence the point which we get when we cut the arc...join upper and lower points...hence we will get a perpendicular bisector..
