line segment AB=6cm and divided into the ratio 1:2

Step-by-step explanation:

In this we are asked to divide it in 1:2 ratio

So, 1+2 = 3

3, number congruent of line segment is formed.

  1. Firstly, we have to draw a line segment AB of length 6 cm
  2. Draw a line with an acute angle from point A
  3. Point the compass on A, and cut the new line with some radius
  4. Place the compass along the line and make 3 arcs. Since we need 3 congruent parts, and name the last one as “F”
  5.  Take length of BF as radius draw an arc from A just below it. Again, take the length of AF as radius and draw an arc which cuts the previous arc from B, name the intersection point as B’. Connect B and F
  6. Taking the same length that we used in line AA’, draw arcs along BB’
  7. Connect the points along AA’ and BB’. Name the intercepts on the line AB as J, K
  8. Thus we divided a line segment as AJ:JB = 2:4= 1:2
