Steps of construction:

• Draw a line segment of length 7 cm and name it as AB.

• Construct an acute angle to the line segment and name the line newly formed as AY.

• Take a small measurement in compass and cut the line AY.

• Mark the points of equal measurement on AY as X₁, X₂, X₃...

• Join B from X₄.

(We have taken the 4th point that is X4 because the sum of ratios is 1 + 3 = 4)

• Construct a line parallel to BX₄ on BX₁

• Mark the new point as P

AP = 1.7

PB = 5.2
