Firstly Draw a line segment AB of 10cm

Ratio given = 3:5
Let the numbers in the ratio be 3x and 5x

According to ques.
3x + 5x = 10
8x = 10
x =10/8
So, 3x = 10/8 × 3= 3.75
& 5x = 10/8 × 5= 6.25
Dividing length = either 3.7 cm or 6.3 cm

use a compass and draw an arc of 3.7 cm from point A of the line segment .

Answer:

length of two parts is 6 cm and 4 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • ·First draw a line segment AB of length 10 cm.
  • now from point A, at some angle, draw a random line of any length more than half of AB(for better marking)
  • using compass, keep the centre as A and cut an arc of any length on this new line.
  • keep the point of intersection as centre and repeat this to get 5 equally spaced points on new line AC
  • join the 5th point from A on line segment AC to B
  • draw a line, parallel to this DB line from 3rd point onto the line segment AB.

this divides it in 3:2 ratio.

measuring this we get length as 6cm and 4 cm.
