STEPS OF CONSTRUCTION:

1.Draw a line segment AB =  8 cm
2. Draw a ray  AX making an acute ∠BAX with AB.
3. Mark 5+8= 13 points i.e A1,A2,A3,A4,.......A13 on AX such that AA1= A1A2 =  A2A3 = …… = A12A13.
4. Join A13B.
5. From A draw A5O || A13B  which intersect AB at O by making an angle at A5 equal to ∠AA13B.

Then O is the point on AB which divides it in the ratio 5:8.

So AO : OB = 5 : 8 .

On measuring we found that :
AO = 3.1 cm & OB = 4.9 cm.

solution:--

1. draw Ab=8cm
2. A ray AX making an acute angle with AB is drawn.
3.After that, a ray BY is drawn parallel to AX making equal acute angle as in the previous step.
4.Point A1, A2, A3, A4 and A5 is marked on AX and point B1, B2.... to B8 is marked on BY such that AA1 = A1A2 = A2A3 =....BB1= B1B2 = .... B7B8.
5.A5 and B8 is joined and it intersected AB at point C diving it in the ratio 5:8.

now.... AC : CB = 5 : 8

ΔAA5C ~ ΔBB8C
∴ AA5/BB8 = AC/BC = 5/8...

i hope its is helfull for you..
