2. Using compass draw an arc of more than half of the line segment on one end.

3. Follow the 2nd step at the other end as well.

4. Find where these two arcs intersect.

5. Now follow the 2nd and 3rd steps for drawing similar arcs below the line segment drawn in 1st step.

6. Now the points where two arcs both below and above the line segment intersect must be joined.

7. Consult the attachment for your figure.
