Given :    a line segment of 9 cm

To find : Divide   line segment  into 5: 6 ratio

Solution:

ratio 5:6

5 + 6 = 11

Step 1  :  Draw a line segment AB   = 9 cm

Step 2 : Draw an acute angle at A on AB and draw ray  AX

Step 3 : Using suitable compass width Starting from A , take 11 points ( at equal distance ) consecutively on drawn ray AX

Step 4 : join 11th point with  B

Step 5 : Using set square draw a line parallel to line drawn in step 4 and passing through 5th point on ray AX and intersecting AB at P

point P divides AB in  5:6 ratio

AP : PB = 5 : 6

AP ≈ 4.1 cm

BP ≈ 4.9 cm
